(hereinafter referred to as Dabo, CEO Park Chan-jae, www.daeboev.com), which signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement with Korea Elevator University on February 28th, has been doing well. Daebo, which was spun off from DB Information & Communication, an affiliate of Daebo Group, in October 2009 as a software company, entered the elevator industry to diversify its business.
The company's flagship model is coaxial cable for elevator CCTV and mobile communication relay. The company has already completed the KS B 6948 Elevator Flexible Cable conformity determination according to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's alternative standard for installing mobile communication antennas in elevators, and has introduced the product to several apartment building tenant representative meetings, receiving a good response.
"According to 13.5.1.3 of the Structure of Electric Elevator Inspection Standards for Elevators, which was revised and notified on the 14th of last month, KS B 6948 and KS B 6948-compliant flexible cables should be used as cables for connecting to the car, and the selected flexible cables should be of equal or better quality in all cases," said Hwang Kyung-hoon, Team Leader of the Strategic Business Division.
Dabo's new product is designed to prevent crimes in elevators, such as assault and kidnapping of children, and provide a mobile communication environment in elevators that meets the needs of the smartphone era, while minimizing the electromagnetic risk of using mobile phones.
The most noticeable part is that even in an elevator with a power outage, cell phone service is possible through the mobile repeater antenna as long as the mobile repeater is powered. Currently, there are structural limitations that make it difficult to use cell phones in elevators that block external radio waves. Due to the nature of cell phones that connect to the base station with maximum power, the amount of electromagnetic waves generated increases to the maximum.
"Since the CCTV cable and mobile phone signal cable can be shared to install an integrated mobile communication antenna in the elevator, it is possible to provide a smooth mobile communication environment by reducing the amount of electromagnetic waves generated in the existing elevator to about 1/1000 of the level, in addition to high-quality CCTV image quality," said Hwang. "It is a device that is expected to be most effective in emergency situations such as the 9-15 power outages that occurred last year and elevator trapping accidents."

Providing an elevator 'accident-free environment' such as electromagnetic waves and safety accidents
Another advantage is that it dramatically improves cable sway, enabling stable high-speed operation, and boasts excellent durability that overcomes the structural disadvantages of coaxial cables. It is composed of a hard and soft dielectric protected by a cylindrical braided SBM (Strain Bearing Menber), which has a high tensile strength and strong durability. "Despite being a coaxial cable, it meets more than three times the durability standards of the existing elevator flexible cable international standard EN-50214, which is a flat arrangement of several strands of ordinary insulated wires," said Hwang.
In addition, because it uses a measuring device (Site Master) that is generally used for quality inspection and maintenance management of telecommunication companies inside mobile communication base stations or buildings, it provides an advanced management environment that can control the quality of the finished inspection and can be utilized for future maintenance.  In particular, the measuring device enables non-destructive telemetry and maintenance, where quality data of the installation environment can be archived and the progress data can be overlaid and compared on a computer.  "This is not the case with conventional flexible cables for elevators, which require visual inspection, short circuits and breaks, followed by stopping the elevator and replacing or repairing the cable," added Hwang.
In addition to replacing cables installed in existing elevators, Daebo plans to supply finished cables for new installations and through partnerships with elevator manufacturers. "We are already working on a sales plan for each existing apartment unit, and for commercial buildings, we will focus on sites with strong symbolic meaning such as airports and hotels," said Hwang.

Mini Interview with Chanjae Park, CEO of Dabo Systems
"We will incorporate IT into elevators, a vertical means of transportation"

Chanjae Park joined DB Information & Communication, an ITS company, in 1996 as a second-year public employee, and has been a behind-the-scenes force that has helped the company reach its current trajectory. He currently serves as a director. He is determined to pour his know-how gained in the ITS road field for more than 20 years into the elevator field. "If we have applied IT to horizontal transportation, we will now apply it to vertical transportation, elevators," Park says.
Daebo is aiming for a "safe elevator and green elevator environment" through coaxial cable. The company claims that by installing a mobile communication repeater in the car, it will be able to respond quickly in the event of an elevator accident and reduce electromagnetic waves from mobile phones. Compared to other products, it has a longer lifespan of 10 years and can withstand 190,000 cable bends. It can be easily replaced by simply replacing the junction box and coaxial cable.
Starting with this, Park's ultimate goal is to establish a comprehensive control center for elevators, similar to the comprehensive transportation center in the road sector. Currently, institutions are only building elevator DBs and applying them only in some smart buildings, so Daebo plans to build a comprehensive control center that can not only create a safe in-car environment but also integrate the external environment.
