On the 15th of last month, 'Security Korea 2012' was held at COEX in Seoul, Korea, where advanced security products and technologies were showcased for four days. 

The exhibition, co-hosted by K.Fairs, CCTV Journal, and the Korea Surveillance Equipment Industry Cooperative, showcased the latest security technologies this year, and video surveillance seminars on various security topics such as home network, biometrics, and smart integrated control were held as side events, and the 'World IT Show 2012' was held as a concurrent event to provide various attractions as IT convergence technologies in the security industry such as recognition, sensors, surveillance, location tracking, mobile, and network are expanding.

In particular, the video surveillance seminar held on the 15th and 16th invited experts in the fields of home security and mobile security prospects, home network and wireless security solutions, the latest biometric technology status, privacy and CCTV, intelligent video surveillance technology and market prospects, and smart integrated control systems to give lectures on technology-related issues, linkages and derivative businesses.

Security Korea 2012 is attracting attention as a global security exhibition that provides all the key elements necessary for networking with business partners in the competitive domestic security market, including core sectors with high demand for security solutions such as healthcare, education, and administration, and is divided into two themed exhibition halls: security devices and information protection items.

An official from Security Korea said, "This exhibition is an event that has been organized with the know-how of Security World Expo for the past 10 years," adding, "It is a win-win situation for exhibitors, domestic buyers, overseas buyers, and visitors through new product exhibitions, export consultations inviting overseas buyers with real purchasing power, and purchasing consultations for domestic buyers."

One of the most notable exhibitors at the show was ADT Capsda (pictured below, left), which showcased its intelligent integrated security solutions. In particular, ADT Site Cube, a customized mid-to-large building integrated management solution, attracted the attention of visitors. ADT Site Cube is a highly compatible solution that enables the organic linkage of different complex systems required for medium and large buildings.

All systems required for building management, from access control to CCTV, elevator control, parking management, energy control, and more, can be controlled in one place, effectively reducing unnecessary waste of resources. In addition, the accompanying web-based customized management program makes it easy to solve complex and difficult building management as if you were looking into the actual building. The service provides intelligent system and energy management, economical maintenance, as well as excellent automatic inspection and intelligent monitoring. In particular, the service is popular for its powerful access control, including vehicle management, elevator control, and restriction of access areas by user.

In addition, the company introduced License Plate Recognition, which automatically recognizes the license plates of entering and exiting vehicles to efficiently manage building access. It is capable of recognizing more than 98% of vehicle license plates through high-definition cameras with more than 1.25 million pixels, and is equipped with various information phrases through information boards, as well as displaying vehicle number, pass status, and parking fee.

It can manage accurate vehicle access history through the integration of data DB in the parking lot and consists of parking ticket issuance, manned fare calculator, and unmanned cash register.

In addition, the company's bollard (Anti Terrorism) is an advanced physical security system that completely blocks terrorist threats through vehicles in key protected facilities and controlled areas. It has a strong appearance made of stainless steel (6mm), strong durability through an effective shock absorption and dispersion structure, and a GemGlow (high-performance LED) system with good cyan visibility that can be operated more than 500 times a day. It can be easily deployed to protect the perimeter of car showrooms, supermarkets, warehouses, ATMs, etc. and to manage traffic in urban centers, local institutions, hospitals, etc.

In addition, Samsung Techwin introduced a 2-megapixel full HD 20x network PTZ camera (SNP-6200/ 6200H, bottom right), while Entos Information & Communication Co., Ltd. exhibited a system that combines a zoom camera, PTZ, wiper, and fan heater. The all-in-one system is equipped with a blind mating design that separates the top and bottom parts of the base block for easy maintenance, and is equipped with an anti-tampering function that automatically restores the camera to the specified range when the camera moves more than 1.5 degrees due to an external impact within the specified range.

(Union Community introduced smartphone-linked fingerprint recognition terminal (VIRDI Smart-i), card-only terminal (AC-1000), access control and time and attendance management software, electronic attendance system, people counting system (SMT-1000), and intelligent access control system.

In particular, the intelligent access control system is a system that restricts access to others by installing it in areas requiring security, such as building entrances, computer rooms, vaults, and restricted areas, and performs access authentication procedures by interlocking card fingerprint authentication terminals, image processing controllers, and multiple image sensors, and provides various functions such as monitoring the status of visitors, terminal and controller management, and access control through integrated relationship software.
